Ford Fam Feature: Calum Smith and the Clean Street Showpiece “Fez”

From a birthday gift to a head-turning show car, Calum Smith’s “Fez” is proof that passion, patience, and a little help from Dad can turn a humble Mk7 Fiesta into a clean and confident street star.

🚗 Model: 2012 Ford Fiesta Mk7 PFL
🔧 Nickname: Fez
🎯 Build Type: Show

How It Started: A Birthday Gift That Sparked a Passion

When Calum Smith received his first car—a Ford Fiesta—for his 17th birthday, he didn’t just get a set of wheels; he got a ticket into the world of modified Fords. At first, it was small touches inspired by Instagram, but over time, the bond between Calum and his Fiesta grew into a full-blown obsession.

“My parents bought me my first car, and I started modding after seeing other Fiestas online. Gradually, I fell in love with making it my own.”

Building “Fez”: The Transformation

Named “Fez,” Calum’s Mk7 PFL has evolved into a clean show build with standout touches like a full Zetec S body kit, refinished black wheels, and a custom Scorpion exhaust that gives the 1.25L engine some serious presence.

Though the powerplant remains stock at 81hp and 84lb-ft, Calum isn’t here to chase numbers. His goal? Clean lines, standout looks, and a ride that turns heads wherever it goes.

“My biggest challenge was fitting the Zetec S kit. Keeping the pieces in place while gluing was tough—I had to call in my dad and his mates to help!”

Life with the Fez

Calum’s love for his car bleeds into daily life. Whether commuting or meeting friends at Bluewater for photo shoots and car talk, the Fiesta is central to his routine.

He’s a proud member of FEZGXNG and constantly engages with the wider community, tagging Ford Fam and Ford Hoonz in posts and stories.

One of his favourite memories? His first time on track during a parade lap at Castle Combe—even if it was just a cruise, it was a massive personal milestone.

What’s Next for the Build?

This is just the beginning for Calum and Fez. Planned upgrades include:

  • Lowering the car for better stance
  • Grey and black ST seats for a fresher interior look
  • Long-term dream: Convert to an ST engine and turn Fez into a legit track car

“One day I want to fully convert it—strip it out, drop in an ST engine, and make it a full-blown track build.”

Advice to the Ford Fam

“If you love a Ford, don’t let anyone talk you out of it. Everyone’s got opinions—but it’s your car, your way.”

Despite not facing major setbacks yet, Calum knows the road isn’t always smooth. But the satisfaction of having people recognize his build and watching it evolve has been the ultimate reward.

“Being part of Ford Fam has opened me up to so many new people and connections I wouldn’t have made otherwise.”

Follow the Journey
