FORD FAM FEATURE: GAVIN MULLINS – “FORD FUKU”

Gavin Mullins is an Orlando-based tech building his 2017 Focus SEL into a showpiece with clean lighting, subtle mods, and a vision that’s all his own.

Driver Introduction

Name: Gavin Mullins
Location: Orlando, Florida
Profession: Automotive Technician

Gavin’s love for cars started early—attending car shows with his family as a kid planted the seeds of a lifelong passion. But it was a ride in a friend’s 2012 Ford Focus that locked in his allegiance to the Blue Oval. That moment set the course for what would become a personal mission: to build a standout Focus of his own.

The Vehicle: 2017 Ford Focus SEL

Nickname: Ford Fuku
Build Goal: Show

Gavin’s SEL is a work in progress, but even in its current form, it’s a clean and striking example of what attention to aesthetic detail can achieve. While the car isn’t heavily modded for performance—yet—its visual appeal has taken major leaps thanks to a new set of headlights and taillights, which replaced the aging, cloudy stock units and gave the car a bold new face and rear-end to match.

Modifications & Performance

Engine & Performance:

  • Cold Air Intake
  • Snorkel Modification

Suspension:

  • Stock (future plans include lowering springs)

Brakes & Wheels:

  • Stock

Estimated Power: 160 hp / 150 Nm
0-60: Not tested
¼ Mile: Not tested

Gavin’s vision is a true example of incremental growth—each upgrade is purposeful, contributing to the overall goal of creating a reliable, show-ready Focus that turns heads.

Challenges & Turning Points

The road hasn’t been smooth. Gavin notes that mechanical issues are frequent, but his skill as a technician keeps things moving. “Stuff keeps breaking on my car and I’m always willing to fix it and make it look better,” he says. That blend of resilience and pride in his work has helped the build evolve steadily.

Daily Life & Community

Gavin’s car passion isn’t just a weekend hobby—it’s part of who he is. From fixing vehicles at work to tinkering with his Focus at home, his lifestyle revolves around the automotive world. Though not currently in a club, he finds plenty of joy and inspiration in local meets—like a memorable Halloween event with friends, which involved Lambos, gas station hangouts, and a great night with his brother.

Future Plans

  • Lowering Springs
  • Headers
  • ECU Tune
  • Paint Correction
  • Full PPF Wrap

His long-term goal? A show-level finish that holds up both under the lights and under close inspection.

Words of Wisdom

Gavin’s advice is simple but powerful: “Do what you want to it. It’s your car—build it how you imagine it.” In an era where online opinions run rampant, that kind of self-assurance is refreshing.

Closing Thoughts

Gavin’s journey with “Ford Fuku” is still unfolding, but his dedication and authenticity shine through in every upgrade. For him, the joy is in the process—watching the car transform and sharing that story with the community.

“Enjoy your car how you want to and build and do what you want to it. Ford forever.”
