Ford Fam Feature: Tommy and His Unique 2007 Ford Fiesta Build

Tommy from Bedford took his 2007 Ford Fiesta Mk6 from a stock commuter to a show-stopping stanced ride. With ultra-rare Schmidt Space wheels and a laid-back approach to car culture, his build reflects a passion for aesthetics and individuality.

Tommy from Bedford didn’t always have a passion for Fords. In fact, his automotive journey started with a love for VW cars. It wasn’t until his mate got a black ST150 and kept talking about wanting a white Mk6 that Tommy saw an opportunity. One day, he stumbled across a white Mk6 for sale and thought, “Why not?” — and just like that, his Ford journey began.

From Rooftops to Rides

By day, Tommy works as a flat roofer. He jokes that his job doesn’t influence his passion for cars, but it sure does fund it. With the money he earns, he’s able to turn his ideas into reality, building the kind of car he’s always dreamed of. His inspiration partly comes from his childhood love for GTA and Forza — games that made modifying cars exciting and artistic.

That Frozen Fez: The Fiesta Mk6

Tommy’s 2007 Ford Fiesta Mk6 is affectionately known as “that frozen fez” — a nickname that just sort of stuck. From the start, the goal was clear: this car would be a show car. The most striking aspect of his build? The wheels. Tommy managed to get his hands on a set of very rare Schmidt Space wheels in the 4×108 pattern, a spec that almost no other Mk6 has. This makes his build truly one of a kind.

Another standout feature is the ST bumpers, spoiler skirts, and other exterior upgrades, but Tommy insists that the wheels are what really make the car pop. He originally fitted the car with 40mm lowering springs but plans to switch to coilovers soon to perfect the stance.

Keeping It Real

While the car may have show-stopping looks, the engine remains completely stock — a 1.4L that delivers factory power. Tommy doesn’t mind, though; for him, the journey is about the aesthetics and making the car visually unique. The plan moving forward includes fitting coilovers, adding a diffuser extension, installing an RS spoiler, and possibly incorporating vented bonnet upgrades.

Weekend Vibes

For Tommy, the car scene is more of a weekend hobby — a break from the daily grind where he gets to indulge his passion. He’s part of fezgxng, a community of like-minded Fiesta enthusiasts, but he keeps it casual, focusing more on having fun than chasing accolades.

One piece of advice Tommy has for other Ford owners? “Don’t put tow straps on your car unless it’s a track car.” He’s seen too many cars sporting them purely for aesthetics, and he’s not a fan.

From Stock to Cool

Looking back on his car’s journey, Tommy feels a sense of accomplishment. Seeing his car transform from stock to cool is the most rewarding part. It’s not about having the fastest car or the most expensive mods; it’s about enjoying the process and making it your own.

Tommy credits Shane_btcc for helping install the lowering springs, but otherwise, he’s handled most of the work himself. He likes keeping the project hands-on, making each change a reflection of his own vision.

What’s Next?

Tommy’s not planning anything too drastic for now. His approach to building cars is laid-back: “Whatever happens, happens.” With plans for minor aesthetic tweaks and a few functional upgrades, he’s just taking it one step at a time.

Message to the Ford Fam Community

Tommy has a straightforward message for the community: “Abolish tow straps.” He believes in building cars that look good without unnecessary accessories. And above all, he believes in keeping it fun and original.
